About Bistro Chef

We are a family run independent business, based in Bath, UK, owned by French Chef Christophe Lacroix and his wife Magalie.

Experienced restaurateurs, Christophe and Magalie share a passion and expertise for creating authentic French dishes and are delighted to have launched their Bistro Chef home dining dishes in 2022. With delivery across the UK, convenience and luxury combine so that everyone can enjoy a taste of France at home. The flavours and aromas will take you straight back to your favourite Parisian or Provencal bistro!


Christophe began training in traditional French cooking aged 14, working in a Michelin-starred restaurant in La Rochelle. Over the following years his career flourished, working with famous chefs in French restaurants and chateaux, then travelling the world as a private chef to Russian oligarchs and Hollywood superstars. Christophe eventually settled in Bath and decided to open his own French brasserie, later developing the Bistro Chef concept with partner Magalie. Christophe, supported by a highly trained team,  heads up recipe development and production.

Magalie (Brigitte)

Brigitte left home in Rheims at 16 with a love of good food, great ingredients and generous entertaining. Her mother’s parting words were “I didn’t have time to teach you how to cook so you’re either going to have to learn quickly or marry a chef!” She chose the easier route! Brigitte heads up the commercial side of Bistro Chef and ensures our delicious meals get to our customers.

Our Values


Our recipes and cooking methods are true to the French dishes we know and love.


It is very important to us that our dine-in dishes deliver fabulous flavours time and again for our customers. As such our range is hand cooked in small batches by classically trained chefs using the finest ingredients.


We don’t use any unnecessary additives or preservatives in our recipes and our dishes are fast frozen to lock in flavour and goodness.


We use local suppliers for fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and dairy. A lot of our producers are based within 20 miles of our kitchen, keeping food miles to a minimum. Our local butcher, Peter from Larkhall Butchers is a Master of his trade and supplies us with exceptional quality grass fed and free range lamb, beef and pork from surrounding farms. Our lamb comes from Jamie’s Farm, a charity that combines sustainable farming with supporting young teenagers to re-engage with family and school. It is a unique organisation and one that we are proud to be associated with.
We want to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum and as such our delivery packaging is completely natural, from Woolcool, pioneers of the sustainable packaging revolution. Our trays are made from 95% recycled materials.  We continue to look at all operations of our business to improve our environmental impact.
